Toronto Die Cut

Die Cutting is a method of cutting shapes from a sheet or a roll of materal by using a metal form called a die. By pressing the dies knife edge into the material, like a cookie cutter, rounded corners, flaps, holes, windows, or pop-ups can be created. Dies are often called steel rule dies and pressure is applied by hydraulic or mechanical presses. Other type of dies are made from metal engravings and etchings. Dies can be made to have either a sharp or a dull edge to produce various other techniques similar to die cutting, such as: creasing, routing, engraving, stamping and perforating. Examples of the different types of materials that can be die cut are: paper, plastic, textiles, wood, vinyl, cloroplast, textiles, wood, styrene etc.
